Using Intellectual Property Rights for Social & Environmental Good

Event description

How can intellectual property support your purpose?

Intellectual property (IP) is widely considered as the exclusive domain of large corporations and aggressive profit driven companies. That couldn’t be further from the truth; IP is critical for all organisations.

Anything which delivers value or benefit to your organisation can be considered IP. Examples include networks, people, processes, brands and reputation, as well as products, manufacturing techniques and even software.

Join us for an interactive session looking at how IP rights can help maximise the impact which your organisation delivers.

We’ll cover:

  • Why all organisations have a unique advantage and the IP rights which protect those;
  • Common mistakes that social enterprises and impact organisations make in relation to their IP;
  • Process, timing and decision making criteria to avoid problems;
  • How to identify and protect your organisation’s unique advantage.

This session will be led by: David Macaskill, Senior Associate at James & Wells. David is a leading intellectual property lawyer and patent attorney who specialises in intellectual property strategy development, implementation and portfolio management.

He has experience in a wide variety of technology areas and businesses, and has worked with organisations in the not for profit area including public health organisations, artists and charities.

In addition, David has had governance roles in the not for profit and arts community, and therefore understands the challenges that these organisations face. This experience provides a unique insight for organisations looking to maximise their impact and outcomes for stakeholders.

We look forward to seeing you there!
